Board Certified in Marital and Family LawFiller Rodriguez, LLP is pleased to announce that Catherine M. Rodriguez, Esq. has become Board Certified in Marital and Family Law.

In Florida, board certified lawyers are legal experts dedicated to professional excellence who have met rigorous standards for experience and professionalism set by the Florida Supreme Court and administered by The Florida Bar Legal Specialization and Education Department.

Board certification recognizes attorneys’ special knowledge, skills and proficiency in various areas of law, professionalism and ethics in practice. Board certified lawyers are “Evaluated for professionalism and tested for expertise.”
“Marital and family law” is the practice of law dealing with legal problems arising from the family relationship of husband and wife and parent and child, including civil controversies arising from those relationships. In addition to actual pretrial and trial process, ‘marital and family law’ includes evaluating, handling, and resolving such controversies prior to and during the institution of suit and post-judgment proceedings. The practice of marital and family law in the state of Florida is generally unique in that decisional, statutory, and procedural laws are specific to this state.

In order to become eligible to take the exam, Ms. Rodriguez skills as a lawyer were evaluated through an extensive review by the Florida Bar Family Law Board Certification Committee who rigorously reviewed the quality of her practice and obtained opinions from lawyers and judges about the quality of her work and her professionalism. Once the Committee screened Ms. Rodriguez a process that took approximately 5 months they notified Ms. Rodriguez that she was eligible to sit for the exam to be board certified. We are proud to say Ms. Rodriguez passed the exam.

In Florida there are over 100,000 lawyers and at this time only 282 lawyers are board certified in Marital and Family Law. Congratulations to Ms. Rodriguez.
